The AA Midget Broncos opened their quest for a third straight Centre Four Hockey League title on the right foot.

Tuesday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena they doubled the Prince Albert Chill 6-3 to gain a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three second round series.

The Broncos received a bye through the first round based on their third overall finish in the regular season.

Kobe Kokoski and Justin Pronych scored in the opening period to give the Broncos a 2-1 lead going to the second.

The Chill would tie it at 2-2 with a short-handed marker early in the middle frame but Hunter Edmonds and Matthew McGrath helped generate a 4-2 lead heading to the second intermission.

PA kept fighting in the third, they would draw the contest to 4-3 but wouldn't get any closer, Brett Simpson restored the two goal margin, McGrath added his second of the night into an empty net.

Dawson Cochrane made 22 stops in the win, the Broncos forced 44 shots on the Chill goal.

Game two is slated for Prince Albert on Thursday night.
