Allan's Jared Cowen was involved in a blockbuster NHL trade on Tuesday morning that sees him land in Toronto with the Maple Leafs.

The 25 year-old defenseman will join Ottawa Senator teammates Milan Michalek, Colin Greening and Tobias Lindberg in the move. A second round draft pick will also be part of the Leafs' return.

Heading to the nation's capital is Leaf captain Dion Phanuef plus minor leaguers Cody Donaghey, Casey Bailey, Matt Frattin and Ryan Rupert.

In 249 career regular season games, the ninth overall pick in the 2009 draft has 15 goals, 31 assists and 174 penalty minutes. Cowen has also dressed in 17 playoff games collecting four assists.

Cowen honed his craft through the Allan Minor Hockey system before playing two seasons in Saskatoon with the AAA Midget Contacts. From there he went on to a remarkable junior career in Spokane for four seasons.

Along the way he won the Memorial Cup while a teammate of Watson's Dustin Tokarski with the Chiefs.

He is also a two-time World Junior Championship silver medalist with Team Canada.
