Humboldt's Logan Barlage is back with the AAA Prince Albert Mintos after making his regular season debut in the Western Hockey League.

The 15 year-old suited up for Swift Current last Wednesday night.

He said he got a good dose of that elite level prior in Calgary at the Under-16 Western Canadian Challenge Cup.

"It was a great experience, it was good to see what all those other players have and what they can do. There was a lot of good players out there and I was lucky enough to play for Team Saskatchewan."

The tournament features the top WHL prospects from the four western most provinces facing off against each other. They finished 1-3, Barlage had four goals and three helpers along the way.

"It was a really good experience, all the guys on the team were great, the coaches were good, it was a fun time."

Following the tournament Swift Current came calling as they have become victim of the injury bug. The WHL rule book states a 15 year-old can only suit up for five games so it's rare to make the move however Barlage didn't disappoint, at least according to the coaching staff.

"It was a 9 out of 10," Broncos' Assistant Coach Ryan Smith said to Shawn Mullin during the post-game show on Golden West Radio. "He did everything we wanted him to do. He's going to be a heck of a player in this league. He's a big body, he moves well, I think he had six shots in the first ten or fifteen minutes of the game. To get the ice time he got well he determined that, we didn't plan on that. His effort, his execution, his desire, he picked up the systems quite quickly and again he's 6'4" that's a hard body to handle down the middle. At 15 a call up only one day with us that's an outstanding game for Logan," the former Humboldt Bronco Coach and General Manager beamed.

He agreed himself that it was a solid start.

"They said keep working hard and they were happy with my game and I thought I was happy with it too. That whole coaching staff and that whole dressing room is an amazing place. It's a really comfortable room to be in that's for sure."

Swift Current fell 5-4 in overtime, they did fight back from down 4-0.

Barlage was held pointless but overall it will be a night he won't soon forget.

"It was a little bit nerve wracking going on the ice for the first time in that rink," Barlage said on a rare Friday night off at his billets in Prince Albert. "I got a quick shot the first shift, it was pretty crazy how the fans reacted. It's a great place, it was a good experience playing a game like that."

He is now back with the Mintos, in nine games he has seven goals and eight assists for 15 points, that leaves him fifth in league scoring. They host the Saskatoon Blazers on Tuesday night.
