Prairie Central's male curling team led by Jayden Bindig has finished fifth at the Saskatchewan Winter Games.

The Wadena-based foursome, which also includes Humboldt's Braden Fleischhacker along with Nathen Pomedli and Ethan Nygaard, defeated Lakeland 9-4 in their final game in North Battleford.

Bindig's team went 1 and 2 in the round robin before picking up an 8-3 win in their first placement game on Tuesday night.

Their win on Wednesday morning was backed by strong 4th and 6th ends, which saw the team score three and four points each.

The team was coached by Verne Anderson, who is off for a competition of his own. Anderson plays second for Eugene Hritzuk's Saskatoon rink, who is competing at senior provincials in Tisdale.

The second half of the Sask. Winter Games will see the women's tournament played out beginning Thursday.

Prairie Central will be represented by two Colonsay curlers - Rebecca Fitzsimmons and Marlyse Steckler.
