The Humboldt Broncos have made another trade to bring in some more toughness up front.

The rights to 1996 born defenseman Graydon Smith were shipped to Sherwood Park of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for 20 year-old forward Luke Kempf on Tuesday.

The Sherwood Park born winger is optimistic for his chance with the green and gold.

"I'm excited, I think it's going to be a good experience for me," he said over the phone Tuesday afternoon. "Moving away from home for the first time will be a good experience all around, I am excited to join the club."

Kempf has 27 points in 110 career AJHL contests, he also brings some grit as he has collected over 300 penalty minutes as well.

His game goes much beyond that according to the man that pulled the trigger, General Manager Darcy Haugan.

"To describe Luke I think what he is most importantly going to bring to our team is accountability and energy to our locker room. I don't think you can ever really have enough of that. His style of play is going to be real beneficial for us come this season, he plays the game hard, he's really tough to play against."

Kempf does pride himself on the sentiments.

"Yeah, I am a physical player but I'm a player that can play the role and also put some points up on the board so I'm an all around power forward I like to think."

Smith's rights were brought to the Broncos in the Greg Moro move to Lloydminster.

"The sky really is the limit," Haugan continued. "I've heard nothing but great things about his character and his work ethic and those sorts of things. Sherwood Park has been a very good team in the last couple years here too so maybe power play time wasn't there like it probably would be with some other teams."
