The Broncos were looking for a spark from their top end talent as they rode a three game losing streak into Friday's match-up with Yorkton at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

The home town fans didn't have to wait long and they weren't disappointed at the end as Humboldt handed the Terriers a 5-2 loss.

Struggling for offence the green and gold started the reunited trio of Logan Schatz, Chris Van Os-Shaw and Trevor Posch that paid immediate dividends.

Posch scored his 16th goal of the season just 40 seconds into the game from both Schatz and Van Os-Shaw, Schatz then scored at 6:18 of the opening period from Posch and Connor Swystun sending the Broncos to the break with a 2-0 cushion.

The Terriers however weren't tucking their tales between their legs, with just four points between the teams in the standings, and the difference of a bye or survivor series participation these are big games.

Dakota Odgers cut the Broncos lead to 2-1 with his fourth at 13:18 of the second period but the Broncos responded, Van Os-Shaw beat Nathan Hargrave with a perfectly placed wrist shot for his Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League leading 30th tally of the year. Posch collected another assist, Xavier Labelle also earned a point on the 3-1 marker.

Again, the Terriers drew within one, Odgers stole the puck behind Humboldt's net on a power-play and fed Jared Legien in front of a helpless Garrett Mason making it 3-2 with just under three left in the second frame.

Pressure kept coming from the home team in the third, Swystun rifled a Matthieu Gomercic rebound pasted Hargrave for his fourth of the season and a 4-2 lead. Tristan Elder picked up the second helper.

Van Os-Shaw would end any threat of a comeback however, the 19 year-old Regina product intercepted a pass at his own blueline speeding in alone on Hargrave tucking his 31st of the year to seal it.

"For sure it was big win," Posch said after the game. "Yorkton was kind of closing in on us there, it's good to separate from them and hopefully we can get another one Saturday."

He said the game went well for the trio which reminded him of their early season success before the costly injuries.

"It feels like the start of the year again when we had that buzz. It took awhile and I don't want to jinx it because we have done that once this year but hopefully we can keep it going, keep playing strong, just playing harder in general."

Mason made 21 stops in the win, his 19th, Hargrave stopped 24 in his 15th loss.

Yorkton did have a slight edge with the special teams, they scored on 1/3 power-plays, the Broncos were 0/4.

These same teams meet in Yorkton Saturday night, 7:15 pre-game show on 107.5 Bolt FM, face-off is 7:30.
