The Humboldt Broncos have hit double digits!

The Broncs defeated the La Ronge Ice Wolves 5-2 on February 16th to sweep the season series, win their tenth game in a row and take over sole possession of first place in the Ag Risk Division.

The lone goal in the first period belonged to Jordan Mish and the Ice Wolves who took a 1-0 lead into the second period.

In the second period, Zach McIntyre scored his first of the game assisted by Riker Franczak and Chase Felgueiras. After La Ronge restored their one-goal lead, McIntyre scored his second of the game assisted once again by Franczak, with Mark Edmands providing the secondary assist.

The game went into the third period tied at two apiece and that’s when the Broncos took over. Owen Guenter got the go-ahead goal on the power play assisted by Michael Clarke and Josh Patrician. This was Guenter’s 100th career Junior A hockey point. Bryson Cecconi then provided the insurance marker assisted by Brayden Camrud and Colin MacPherson. The Broncos added an empty-net goal, Michael Clarke’s 26th of the year assisted by Chase Felgueiras and Derek Patter to secure the tenth win of this incredible streak.

Dane Dow won his third consecutive start, stopping 35 of 37 in the victory.

Now in first place, the Broncos biggest game of the season looms around the corner. Next up, they get set to face the Kindersley Klippers, the team they just passed for first place in the division. Game time is at 3:00 pm on February 18th inside the EPA.
