The Broncos pulled the tricks out on the ice, to give the fans a treat of two straight wins on Halloween.

Goblins, ghouls, and ghosts filled the stands, while the ice was occupied by the Broncos and the Ice Wolves. The goal for the Broncos was a strong 60-minute effort on home ice to spook the Ice wolves back home to La Ronge.

Humboldt has not yet lost when leading after the first period. So the goal, as it always is with Head Coach Nathan Oystrick is a clean, fast start "We stress starts all the time, early in the year we did a great job of jumping on teams and getting the edge early. Lately, I thought we've backed off a little bit. We wanna go out there and set the tempo and pace, especially in our own rink and get the crowd going, and have our fans yelling and screaming," Oystrick said prior to the game.

The game would see an influx of a newly acquired player, and also a familiar face returning to the lineup.

Logan Foster played his first game wearing the green and yellow, after being snagged from Melville in a trade that sent rookie forward Luke Spadafora the other way. Foster was paired alongside Brayden Camrud, who was making his return to the lineup following a 5 game absence from a lower-body injury. Foster has A+ skating ability, and once the two have a little more time than a morning skate out on the ice together, should form a formidable duo.

In the first, it was the Broncos that got the initial strike. Owen Guenter went for a skate and cycled a full revolution in the attacking zone. This drew the attention towards him. Josh patrician then snuck in from the point and parked himself on the back door beside the net. Guenter executed a perfectly placed pass from the blue line, through a pair of legs, right on the tape of Partician, who had the open side and lifted the puck over Ice Wolves' goaltender Daniel Davidson.

The Broncos weren't done there, as another defenseman got in on the action. Chase Felgueiras, off the face-off, received the pass at the point as bodies were separating from the circle. He threw a low shot towards the net that deflected off an Ice Wolves' player, fooling Davidson to double the Broncos lead to two.

In the second period, the Ice Wolves tried to find another gear to get back in the contest. They were able to solve Dane Dow 6:54 into the middle frame,  with a knuckle puck courtesy of Dylan Thackeray. It was an innocent-looking shot from the blue line that fluttered and raised on Dow giving him troubles tracking it down.

Discipline has been solid for Humboldt in the two games prior and was once again on point against La Ronge. They had taken only 4 penalties in the two games leading up and found themselves down a man only once on Halloween. A scary situation for any team trying to contend against the Broncos 5 on 5.

La Ronge was able to put the most rubber towards Dow in the third. However, this was only 8 shots as the Broncos held them to 2 in the first and 7 in the second. Dane Dow once again held the lead, ensuring comfort in a team during close one-goal games. The Broncos were 5-1-2 prior to the game when involved in one-goal contests and managed to hold of the Ice Wolves, to add another one into the win column.

The Broncos, with the win, leapfrogged Kindersley for first place in the Ag Risk Division and also tied Nipawin for first place in the SJHL.

Next up for the Broncos, as they continue their 3 game home stand, is another match-up against the Melville Millionaires and a chance for Logan Foster and Luke Spadafora to prove to their new team, that they made the right trade.
