It wasn't the prettiest of wins, but the Broncos, accustomed to finding ways to get the job done, once again, got the job done.

The Notre Dame Hounds who boasted a 7-3 1 record inside their own building, came out looking like the hungrier team, using the larger ice surface inside Duncan Mcneil Arena to force the play down inside Humboldt Broncos end. If Dane Dow brings anything but his A-game, the Hounds would have outraced the Broncos in the first. Outshot, the Broncos were 14 to 7 in the opening frame, Dow with a key saves after key saves, none more evident than a beautiful paddle stop off a rebound, where he sprawled down to the ice and robbed Cole Golden on the back door. The Broncos had a few chances in the first, Michael Clarke was robbed once by the glove of Riley Kohoenick and Owen Guenter hit a post. At the end of the first, the Broncos and Hounds went into the dressing room tied at zero.

In the second, both offenses were able to get going. The Broncos had a power play carry over into the second and found the net early. The power play had a handful of games where it struggled. However, the movement has looked better in recent games and it seemed only a matter of time before the floodgates would break open. Owen Guenter received the final pass into the slot, courtesy of the puck movement on the Powerplay, and slid a low, gove side shot passed Kohoenick to open the scoring.

The Hounds countered 4 minutes later off the stick of Jarret Penner on the Powerplay. Jackson Kobelka would get the Broncos their lead back 5 minutes afterward, deflecting a shot from the point by Mitchell Girolami in past Kohoenick.

Penalty troubles continued for the Broncos, and another powerplay goal, this time coming from a point shot from Tim Gould, that somehow got through a maze of bodies and up over the shoulder of Dane Dow.

The minor penalty count was 7-2 favoring the Hounds powerplay. With a high sticking penalty to Chase Lacombe carrying over into the third, a double-roughing call to Logan Foster after time had expired in the second, and a bench minor to start the third period, the Broncos found themselves having to kill an extended 5-3, for over three minutes, to start the final frame with the game tied at 2.

It was executed perfectly, and when a shot would get through, Dow was there to make the saves.  Before the third period expired, the Broncos would have to kill off another 5 on 3 to force the game into overtime. They would be successful in that matter, and when the penalties favoring one team by a wide margin, you would expect a call the other way to help even it out. That would happen with 1:10 left in the game when Charles Martin of the Hounds got called for high sticking.

The Broncos were unable to strike in the final seconds of the third, but it did not take long in overtime. With the added ice due to overtime and a power play, the Broncos utilized the 4 on 3 to slip the puck to Michale Clarke in the high slot. Clarke wasted no time with a one-timer through the legs of Kohoenick, giving the Broncos a 3-2 victory on the road. Final Shots were 44-22 in favor of the Hounds.

The Broncos will meet the Hounds 10 times throughout the season, and currently, have the lead in the season series 4 games to 1.

The Broncos now head back home for 2 games inside the EPA, starting off with the Yorkton Terriers on Friday, November 9th.
