It was the second day of back to back games for both the Broncos and the Northstars and yet one of the more higher paced games of the year.

It took the first few minutes of the game to accelerate to the speed that was the mainstay throughout the contest, but once it hit its peak, it didn't let up.

Rayce Ramsay got the start for the Broncos after two shaky starts earlier in the month and was absolutely superb. He was countered by Joel Grzybowski, who just returned from a call-up with the Victoria Royals of the WHL a few days prior. For the second straight game, the Broncos went into the dressing room after the first period tied at nil.

The Broncos wasted no time in the middle frame. Michael Clarke extended his goal-scoring streak to three games with a perfectly placed wrist shot over the right shoulder of Grzybowski to give the Broncos the opening goal.

In the third, the Northstars found another gear.

For the majority of the final frame, they pushed the play deep inside Humboldt's end and worked the cycle. They would score two straight to grab the lead, with goals by Braydon Buziak and Owen Lamb. Lamb's goal coming with just over 5 minutes left would put the Broncos in desperation mode to find the equalizer.

Que the unsung hero. Reid Arnold, the rookie from Yorkton who has played all 18 games, and has found a permanent spot in a shutdown role, entered the zone one on one. Arnold, while off balance, threw a blind shot towards the net that fooled the unexpected Grzybowski. "Nope, I didn't know it was in untill I saw Cole (Kirkup) raise his arms," said Arnold, when asked if he was looking at he net when he took the shot.

In overtime puck possession is the obsession. Both teams looking to catch the other off guard and attack up the ice. At 1:46 into the extra frame Derek Patter turned on the jets, made a highlight reel move through the legs of captain Cody Spagrud, then roofed it overtop of Grzybowski giving the Broncos a 3-2 victory over their divisional foes.

Next up for the Broncos is the first meeting of the season against the La Ronge Ice Wolves at home, inside the Elgar Petersen Arena, on Wednesday, October 31st.
