The Humboldt Broncos are within one game of the second round of the playoffs following a 3-2 overtime win on Wednesday.

Brayden Camrud scored 1:38 into the extra session to give the Broncos a come from behind win and the stranglehold on the series.

Camrud's winner came on a shot that Mustangs goaltender Evan Plotnik got a piece of, but not enough, as it deflected off his glove and into the net, sending most of the 1,084 fans in attendance home happy.

It was looking like fate would not be on the side of the Broncos in the late stages of the game.

Logan Schatz was tagged for a cross-checking penalty with 2:36 remaining in the game when Mustangs defenseman Tyler Heidt played the role of unsung hero for Humboldt.

As Schatz was being escorted to the box, Heidt followed and was taunting the Broncos captain, which eventually led to an unsportsmanlike penalty and the cancellation of a would be power play.

Broncos blueliner Stephen Wack took the puck off the ensuing faceoff and led the rush down the ice, beating Plotnik to tie the game and force overtime.

Nick Shumlanski had the first goal for Humboldt, which came on the power play - the team's 10th of the series with the man advantage.

The Broncos received another strong start in net from Parker Tobin who turned aside 27 shots for his second straight win.

Melfort hosts Game 5 on Saturday at 7:00pm. A potential Game 6 would be in Humboldt on Monday.
