The Carlton Trail Ski Club is set to host the first Sask Cup Race of the season Sunday.

Originally scheduled as the third race in the series, the first two events were postponed due to cold weather.

Approximately 35 skiers will race for the top three spots in up to 12 age categories ranging from those ages seven and under up to 60 and above.

Among the competitors is expected to be Paralympian Colette Bourgonje. At the 2010 Paralympics in Vancouver, Bourgonje became the first person to claim a medal in skiing on home snow after winning a silver medal. She followed that up with a bronze.

The races are open for the public to watch at the club's site which is located at Dixon, 15 minutes northwest of Humboldt.

Races begin at 11:00am and will conclude around 3:00pm.
