An introduction to cross country skiing session is being held Wednesday night at Humboldt Collegiate Institute.

The Carlton Trail Ski Club is getting set for the new season with the no cost session at 8 o'clock.

Brian Grest said their site is definitely a must see.

"The Dixon site that we have is a real hidden gem. People who have never been there before and get out there for the first time are always impressed with the landscape, the scenery, there's tons of hills out there too so those that like challenging skiing the hills are amazing."

They will cover the basics on cross country skiing equipment, how to dress, and local club details.

Grest said there are many benefits to hitting the slopes, "the biggest thing is that its one of the best things to do for your body cardiovascularly, getting out doors in the winter is always a great way to beat the doldrums of winter, there's a big social aspect to it too, we do many events throughout the year that get people together and a lot of people just enjoy the comradery of it too."

Everyone is welcome, there is no cost to attend.
