The top fifteen boys, girls and mixed curling teams in the Horizon Central Athletic Association are set to battle for spots in regionals, as district play gets underway Friday.

On Monday, pre-districts were held in Cudworth, Lanigan and Strasbourg to make up the three draws.

In Cudworth for the boys, Muenster won the 'A' side over Wakaw, who rebounded to defeat Middle Lake to win the 'B' side and book their ticket. The girls draw saw a flipped result, with Wakaw downing Muenster to secure the first spot, with Muenster then claiming the second spot by defeating Cudworth. Mixed play in Cudworth had HCI as the lone team advancing after they downed the hosts.

Wadena took the 'A' side for boys in Lanigan with a win over Foam Lake, who then defeated the host team to earn their own spot in to Districts. Just like the Cudworth draw, the result was again flipped on the girls side, with Foam Lake earning the 'A' ticket with a win over Quill Lake. Wadena came through on the 'B' side.

The final pre-district pool took place in Strasbourg where Ituna won the 'A' side for the boys. In a battle of home town teams, Strasbourg 2 earned the second spot with a win over Strasbourg 1. For the girls draw, Ituna 1 defeated Ituna 2 with Strasbourg then winning the 'B' side. In Mixed play, with only two teams in the draw, both Strasbourg and Imperial advanced, with Strasbourg winning the game between the two sides.

Foam Lake is the site of districts, with games beginning at 9:30am.

In the boys draw, Foam Lake opens up against Strasbourg with the winner meeting Wadena. On the other side, Wakaw will battle Ituna and the winner of that game will meet Muenster.

For the girls, Muenster and Strasbourg play in the first game with Foam Lake awaiting the winner. Wadena will meet Ituna with the winner moving on to play Wakaw.

The mixed bracket has Imperial battling Humboldt in the first game with Strasbourg standing by to meet the winner.

Those who advance from districts will move on to regionals which will be held February 26-27. Provincial championships will be played out March 4-5.
