The Humboldt broncos were out in front coming out of the gates, but heading down the final stretch, gave up the lead the the Melfort Mustangs in Overtime, losing 3-2

The opening frame had no scoring as the tight checking game would proceed into the second.

The Broncos were looking for their third straight win while trying to snap the unbeaten streak the Mustangs had on home ice throughout the 2018/19 season.

13:41 into the second, the Brocnos would find the opening goal of the game curtosy of Zack McIntyre, who would make it goals in 4 staright games for the rookie out of Rhein, SK.

Early in the third Michael Clarke would score his 7th on the year with another highlight reel move,  picking up goals in back to back games himself.
From there on out, it was the Mustangs who were all over the attacking end of the ice, forcing the play and scoring chances deep into Humboldt's end.

Goals from Zach Smith and Collin Schmidt in the third at 3:50 and 10:30 respectively would tie the game at two a piece.

The Broncos would take thier first penalty of the game with under two minutes left. They would manage get the game to overtime, blocking multiple shot attempts from Melfort and picking up the single point. However, it was Justin Ball, turning his 12 game point streak into 13 with a goal 24 seconds into the extra frame giving the Mustangs the 3-2 victory.

It was a great game played by both teams, and for us spectators, will unfortunately have to wait untill December 14th and 15th for the two to meet again.

Not much rest as the Broncos will look to get back in the win column tomorrow when they travel to the Battlefords to take on the Northstars.
