Not a bad way to celebrate your 20th birthday for Humboldt's Reid Gardiner.

On Tuesday, the Prince Albert Raiders' fourth year forward was named the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week.

recorded seven points in three games including three goals and four assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.

He posted back-to-back first star performances contributing to all seven Raider goals in two games beginning Wednesday night with a goal and two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings, and on Friday night he added two goals and a pair of assists in a 4-2 win against the Kootenay Ice.

Overall the Raiders were 2-0-1 during the stretch and sit one point back of Brandon for the Eastern Conference lead. Those two power houses will meet at the Art Hauser Centre on Friday night.

He is tied for fourth in league WHL scoring with 29 goals and 35 assists for 64 points in 45 games.  Gardiner also appeared on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings listed at 167 among North American skaters.

He is just the third WHL'er to receive the honour this season joining Seattle's Mathew Barzal and former Humboldt Bronco Alex Forsberg.
