A field of 15 teams was whittled to seven Saturday, as high school curling districts wrapped up in Foam Lake for the Horizon Central Athletic Association.

In the mixed draw, Humboldt downed Imperial in Friday's opener. That sent them to the 'A' semi-final against Strasbourg, which they lost. Humboldt then defeated Imperial once again to win the 'B' side.

Strasbourg knocked off Humboldt again to claim the district title. With Strasbourg hosting Mixed regionals, both teams advance.

On the boys side, the regional hosts from Muenster were knocked out in two games after they dropped decisions to Foam Lake and Wakaw.

The 'A' bracket saw Foam Lake down Wadena to advance to the final where a re-match would occur after Wadena defeated Strasbourg to claim the 'B' side. The Panthers were once again victorious in the final to secure their ticket to regionals in Muenster.

Foam Lake held down home ice to win boys districts.

The girls tournament saw regional host Strasbourg roll to the title game by downing Foam Lake and Ituna.

With the Vikings advancing to the final, that enabled a third team to qualify for regionals. That team would be the 'B' side finalists from Muenster after they fell to Ituna.

In the double knockout format, the 'B' side team must win twice in the final in order to claim the championship. That is exactly what Ituna did, downing Strasbourg twice to become district champions.

Ituna overcame an uphill battle to claim the girls title.

Regionals will be held February 26-27 with Muenster hosting Region C Boys and Strasbourg holding Region C Girls and Mixed championships.

Teams from North Central, North East and Central Valley will send teams to round out the brackets.
