With classes resuming after Labour Day, high school sports will soon be returning.

Humboldt Collegiate Institute has been offering volleyball players a chance to get ready for their seasons with a volleyball camp.

Held on Saturday and Sunday, the camp was once again instructed by Austin Dyer, who says that they involve every aspect of the game.

"We go through ball control and we hit and serve a whole bunch," he explained. "We try to connect skills into game play. I try to teach a couple things that they may not get elsewhere with their school teams."

Dyer is the Women's Volleyball Coach at Lakeland College in Lloydminster and has been coming to Humboldt to assist with the camp for many years.

He says that in addition to going through all the skills, they like to keep the feeling of a team intact.

"Every drill that we do, they are usually always working with somebody, so we like to keep the team aspect there as they are working on different drills."

The camp is offered to students in Grades 7 through 12 each year. Humboldt Public School welcomes the junior players, while HCI hosts the senior players.

Players go through eight hours of instruction and activity at the camp each year.
