The Horizon Central Athletic Association qualified 12 teams for districts on Monday, as pre-district curling meets were held.

Wadena, Lanigan, and Watrous played hosts for the meets, with 26 teams competing.

In Wadena, the boys team held down home ice, capturing the pre-district championship in a 5-2 win over Humboldt Collegiate.

The Mohawks 'A' team, consisting of Braden Fleischhacker, Adam Eichorst, Cole Bells, and Jay Eichorst, went on to qualify for districts by winning the 'B' side over Ituna.

Quill Lake defeated Wadena in the girls final, with Wadena taking the second qualifying spot, downing Ituna.

At the Lanigan meet, the pre-district titles were dominated by the Foam Lake Panthers, who swept all three categories.

In boys play, the Panthers defeated Strasbourg. The girls event saw Foam Lake down Muenster, while the mixed team from Foam Lake Comp got the win over Lanigan.

Strasbourg, Muenster, and Lanigan all went on to win the second qualifying spot in their groups.

One draw occurred in Watrous, where Watrous and Imperial advanced in mixed play.

Districts will be hosted by Foam Lake on Friday and Saturday.

Junior curlers have their pre-districts taking place on Tuesday in Cudworth, Quill Lake, and Wynyard.
