Nine teams from Horizon Central are moving on to regionals following conference playdowns in high school basketball.

In girls play, Wynyard won their conference with a 68-49 win over Foam Lake in the final. The Panthers qualified for regionals after they defeated Cupar 58-29 in the semifinal.

The 1A bracket will see three HCAA teams play in regionals, including conference champion Middle Lake, who knocked off Birch Hills 81-49 in the final.

Also advancing is St. Brieux, who defeated Bellevue to earn their spot, and Lake Lenore, who knocked out Carrot River to secure their position.

The Middle Lake boys team also picked up a conference title, defeating Kinistino 99-27. 

Lake Lenore, St. Brieux, and Wynyard are moving on to regionals as well.

The Lancers and Crusaders both won their conference, with Lake Lenore defeating Preeceville, and St. Brieux topping Meath Park.

Wynyard lost in the final to Canora, but advanced following a 73-56 win over Kamsack in the semifinal.

The nine qualifying teams will be joined by Horizon's lone 4A teams from HCI, who did not have to compete in conference play.

Regionals take place March 16-17.
