2 more games, 2 more wins for the Humboldt Broncos.

Entering the weekend on a four-game winning streak, teams would no longer be looking past the Humboldt Broncos. A team that some figured would take some time to find their identity.

Strong defensive structure, speed all throughout the lineup and two rock-solid goaltenders, has put the league on notice that their identity is, and should be regarded as a top team in the SJHL. Still, with back to back games on the weekend, the Broncos gain more notoriety, and opposing teams continue to look to be the one that puts a halt to the winning streak.

Friday's game brought the Broncos back inside the EPA to face the Notre Dame Hounds. The Hounds have struggled out of the gate carrying a 1-5 record into this contest, and the Broncos had a test in the Kindersley Klippers, the top two teams in the division the following day.  However, when talking to Head Coach Nathan Oystrick, he had his team focused one thing at a time. "We talked about not getting ahead of ourselves, we haven't done anything yet, we're not champions. It's making sure we prepare the right way. Obviously, with a 4 game winning streak, other teams have noticed that and want to be the ones to knock us off, so we gotta go out there, compete, and compete harder than they do, " said Oystrick.

Compete is what you saw on Friday. The Broncos outshot the Hounds 36-26. They went 5 for 5 on the penalty kill and defeated the Hounds 4-1. Brayden Camrud, Owen Guenter, Luke Spadafora, and Daunte Fortner scored for the Broncos while Dane Dow stopped 25 of 26.

A quick turnaround took the Broncos, now with 5 wins in a row, the first time since January of 2014, three hours west into Kindersley to face the Klippers. The Broncos were two points up on Kindersley sitting in 1st place in the Ag Risk Division. It was also the first time this season these two teams met.

The first period saw the home side come out looking like the stronger team. The Broncos, who were playing their 4th game in 5 days, seemed slow-footed and un-cohesive in the opening frame. That allowed the Klippers to jump out to an early lead, less than 3 minutes into the game.

In the second period, Humboldt was able to simplify the game. Passes were crisper, feet were moving, and decisions were made faster. Rayce Ramsay was making his second career start for the Broncos and following the opening goal was lights out the rest of the way. The Broncos would score 2 goals in the middle frame by returning players Brayden Camrud and Derek Patter. Camrud's 5th and Patter's 2nd on the year.

The third period saw the Klippers pour pucks on net, outshooting the Broncos 14-6 in an attempt to tie the game up. However, Rayce Ramsay would keep the lead intact and improve his record to 2-0 while holding his save percentage to a sparkling .977 throughout the two games.

Now with 6 wins in a row and a tie for first in the SJHL, the Broncos' manes must remain focused one game at a time, as the league now tries to buck the trend that is the Broncos winning streak.
