The Humboldt Hammerhead Swim Team headed south this weekend, participating in two swim meets in Swift Current.

Saturday morning saw the threat of thunderstorms for that afternoon, so the race was on to beat the weather to the finish.

11 swimmers from Humboldt participated in the Swift Current swim meet, who were hosting a total of 180 swimmers from across the province. Those 11 swimmers generated 143 points for the club, placing them 6th overall in the meet.

Some Hammerheads swam races they had never competed in before, while others were working to take time off of their personal best times from last year. The swimmers performed well, making some personal best times.

The Hammerhead brought home three medals from competition on Saturday. Tessa Cannon took the bronze medal in the 7-8 year old girls age group, Maya Berscheid brought home gold in 15-17 girls, and Justin Berscheid also got gold in the 15-17 boys age group.

The Hammerheads will continue their weekend of competition in Swift Current on Sunday, where Gravelbourg is hosting their meet.
