On Saturday, March 19th the Humboldt Karate Club played host to a provincial event that saw over 70 entrants from across Saskatchewan compete in the martial art.

Among the entrants, five were from the HKC and they performed extremely well picking up eight medals in total.

Adult Beginner Jamie Richardson collected two gold medals in his genre as he took first in both Kumite and Kata.

In the Youth Intermediate category, Erin Cline was also a double gold winner. She won both the Kumite and Kata disciplines as well.

In the same age group, Tristan Schickerowski won silver in the Kumite division.

In the Youth group, the HKC had two different medal winners. Ty Cardinal won gold in Kata and bronze in the Kumite. Rylan Bautz was second in Kata taking home the silver medal.

This was the first time Humboldt has hosted a provincial karate competition.
