Kaleb Dahlgren received the Emerging Leaders Award from the Government of Canada on December 5th for his endless list of volunteer work including Dahlgren's Diabeauties.

Dahlgren was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was four. That didn't stop him from carving out a successful hockey career that brought him through the Humboldt Broncos and now a member of the York University Lions.

"I manage my diabetes, my diabetes doesn't manage me," describes Dahlgren's work ethic and resonates with the numerous kids that have become part of the Dahlgren's Diabeauties club.

Below is the full interview with Kaleb Dahlgren. He speaks about his time in York, getting back on the ice, receiving the Emerging Leaders Award and more.
