The Humboldt Broncos aren't invincible after all.

Riding high on a four game winning streak which included outscoring their opponents 25-8 the green and gold were knocked down a peg by division rival Kindersley Friday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

The Broncos did earn a point in the 4-3 shoot-out loss. That dropped their record to 8-1-0-1 through ten games.

When asked if they were told they would start with that record Assistant Coach Brayden Klimosko had no question.

"Yeah, absolutely we would. 8-1-1 is a good start for us obviously but we can't be satisfied with it. We've got some work to do but this will bring us back to reality a little bit."

Kindersley had played just six games to Humboldt's nine and the visitors looked fresh, they had numerous chances to open the scoring but the Broncos would eventually take a 1-0 lead when Erik Gardiner tipped a Logan Boulet point shot past Gunnar Nielsen at 16:09. That was Gardiner's first career SJHL goal. The 17 year-old hometown product was just reassigned by the Western Hockey League's Regina Pats. Matthieu Gomercic picked up the second helper.

The lead stood for just 43 seconds, Josh Bly jammed a rebound past Garrett Mason knotting the score at 1-1.

Gardiner struck again in the second period getting position in front and burying a Gomercic feed for his second and a 2-1 Humboldt lead. Levi Hulston, also making his debut picked up his first point on the tally.

Humboldt continued to feed off the lead marker but Nielsen turned aside 13 shots while Mason saw only four in the middle period.

Kindersley opened it up again in the third collecting their first lead, Branden Wagner and former Bronco Andrew McCann scored to put the Klippers up 3-2 with just over seven minutes to play.

The Broncos would fight back on a power-play, Trevor Posch converted a Hulston pass for his seventh of the season tying it at 3-3 with 5:31 remaining in regulation.

Each team earned a point and the 735 people in attendance saw an incredible three-on-three overtime that couldn't produce a winner.

In the shoot-out Chris Van Os-Shaw, who did have an assist on the Posch goal couldn't beat Nielsen in the SO, neither could Posch or Gardiner. Cole Plotnikoff was the lone Klipper to score but it was enough to give them the extra point.

Klimosko reiterated that the loss will get them back to even keel moving forward.

"It was a little bit of a wake up call for us, especially I thought the first period wasn't good for us. We kind of thought it was Tuesday night versus LaRonge, we thought we were going to be able to play like that and it wasn't the case. Kindersley came in here hard and it was a grind all day."

Each netminder turned aside 33/36 in 65 minutes. Both teams also had a power-play goal, The Broncos had five opportunities, one more than the Klippers who have won three in a row.

The Broncos are now off until Wednesday when they host the Flin Flon Bombers at 7:30. Flin Flon fell 4-3 in a shoot-out to North Battleford Friday. Elsewhere Melville edged Yorkton 3-2, also in a shoot-out Weyburn nipped Notre Dame 4-3 and Estevan handed the LaRonge IceWolves their eighth straight loss, 5-3.
