Curling a popular sport within many communities, especially Muenster.

40 plus youth from Muenster and surrounding communities were able to attend the Farm World Curling Camp on January 19th at the Muenster curling rink.

The camp was conducted by local curler, Kirk Muyres. Muyres has played in four Brier tournaments, has won two Canadian curling championships, taken home a world bronze medal, and a World Cup in Mixed Curling just last year.

"It's pretty special to know that someone from a small town can do those things, I mean I'm not done yet, I hope to one day win an Olympic gold medal too," said Muyres.

Muyres and other coaches taught the kids how to slide on the ice, throw a rock, sweep, and most of all have fun.

"I think it's important as you get older and you get into the back end of your career, you want to give back and you want to kind of teach some of the things you've been taught over the years."

Muyres is originally from St. Gregor as he curled in his home town and many other communities.
