Two local baseball players are returning home with medals from national championships.

In Prince Edward Island, Humboldt's Jayden Huls and his Saskatchewan teammates claimed bronze at the Under-15 championship.

Team Sask narrowly fell to Quebec in a rain delayed game, 11-9. They bounced back to earn a 8-4 win over Ontario to finish in third place.

Huls, who primarily plays in the outfield, had an excellent tournament, hitting .391 to go along with seven runs batted in and a solo home run in the semifinal against Quebec.

He also had five stolen bags and crossed home plate seven times.

Huls had a pair of three hit games, including the bronze medal game, where he went 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple.

Kohle Huber of Watrous and the Under-13 Saskatchewan Selects took part in the nationals in Quebec, where they earned a silver medal.

After shaking off a rusty start to the tournament, Team Sask won their next four games, including a 7-6 win over Manitoba in the semifinal.

In the national championship, they lost 8-0 to Ontario.

Huber, a pitcher, started one game for Saskatchewan at the tournament, and also had a pair of plate appearances, scoring one run.
