Six teams from the Horizon Central Athletic Association look to secure spots in provincial basketball finals on Friday.

Hoopla got underway Thursday night with Regina, Saskatoon, and larger rural schools battling it out in quarterfinal round.

Semifinal games begin at 11:00am Friday and will see the second seeded Lake Lenore Lancers take on Rocanville in 1A boys play.

The Lancers made it to Hoopla as the fourth seed last year, winning a bronze medal.

At 12:45pm, the St. Brieux Crusaders take on Osler in a rematch from last year's third place game. Osler took a close 90-87 contest to take third place.

This time around, the Crusaders have been among the top teams across Saskatchewan and have their eyes set on another provincial title.

The 2:30pm slot features three local teams, as the St. Brieux girls take on top seeded Kenaston in the 1A bracket. In 1A boys, the defending champion Middle Lake Avengers meet Davidson.

Back as the top seed in 2A girls are the Wynyard Bears, who are the three time defending provincial champions. They meet Canora in the semifinal.

Rounding out Friday action for local teams will be the Avengers girls team who take on upset happy Gladmar, who made it to Hoopla as the 11 seed.

The Avengers are no strangers to Hoopla, having played in the last five provincial finals.

Championship and third place games take place Saturday starting at 11:00am, with the last games set for 7:00pm.
