Samantha Fisher and Tia Zimmerman left Antigonish, Nova Scotia with a bit more hardware than they arrived with after both swimmers came home with 5 medals a piece in the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games.

The event running from July 31st to Aug 4th was the second of its kind for Samantha Fisher and first for Tia Zimmerman who both said it was an "exciting time," as they added medal after medal around their necks. Fisher competed in 7 events, winning silver in the 50m Freestyle, along with 25m and 100m Backstroke. She also picked up bronze in the 50m Backstroke and the 4x50 freestyle relay.

Zimmerman would join Fisher on the 4x50m Freestyle bronze-winning team and add a gold in the 400m freestyle, to go with two silvers in the 25m and 50m Butterfly, and another bronze in the 25m Breaststroke.

When asked about the crowd or nerves the two girls had similar opinions with Fisher using the crowd as a boost saying, "It just gets me pumped."  and Tia stating, "I've kinda gotten used to swimming with crowds around, which energizes me, which is kind of ironic because any time else crowds usually make me nervous."

After the more than successful event, both swimmers are now focused on improving their times as they continue their journey in swimming.
