Baseball provincials are in full swing across the province with half a dozen local teams in action in various corners of Saskatchewan on Friday.

The Muenster Bantam Red Sox are in Unity competing in the AA Tier 1 division, they were edged 10-9 in extra innings by the Lloydminster Twins. They meet the Southeast A's at 9 o'clock Saturday morning.


The Humboldt Bantam Dodgers(pictured above) picked up a 16-6 win in their opening game of their tournament, they are in Regina competing for the AA Tier 3 championship. Their next action is Saturday morning against Macklin at 8 o'clock.

The Mosquito Dodgers had an incredible day in the AAA provincials, also in Regina. They crushed the Sask Five Giants 13-3 in just four innings, they followed that with a 15-2 rout of the Estevan Sluggers. Next up is the Saskatoon Dodgers at 2pm Saturday.

More good news from the mosquito age group, the Muenster Red Sox outscored the Prince Albert Royals 21-10 to open the AA Tier 1 tournament in Swift Current. They are back on the diamond on Saturday at 9am versus the Battlefords Beavers.

Lastly, the Lanigan Pirates faced off against the Watrous Lakers at the mosquito AA Tier 4 playdowns with Lanigan picking up a 6-2 victory. They face Carnduff at 9 o'clock Saturday, the Lakers meet Esterhazy, also at 9am. That tournament is in Macklin.

Softball provincials are continuing; the under 14 Humboldt Thunder are in Biggar while the under 12 Wadena Wildcats are in Macklin.
