An early 2-0 deficit and a generous 59 shots against weren't enough to deny the Broncos two big points in Flin Flon Friday night.

Riding a three game slide and a record against the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's top teams that is less than impressive Humboldt put all that aside, fought back and picked up a gutsy 3-2 victory at the Whitney Forum.

"Whenever you can come in here and get two points it's obviously big," Michael Korol stated after the game in which he scored the game winning marker in the first frame. "We battled some adversity at the start of the game and got the two points."

That they did, the Bombers, who welcomed hometown legend Bobby Clarke home for the weekend stormed out to a two goal lead, Rylee Zimmer zinged his 20th of the year past Garrett Mason just 1:07 in, Kristian St. Onge jammed his 22nd of the campaign past Mason at the 5:33 point of the first giving the home team a 2-0 lead.

Humboldt then shook off the bus legs and fired back, Connor Swystun ripped his eighth of the year past Zac Robidoux cutting the lead in half, Cole Young and Tristan Elder grabbed the assists.

The Broncos would tie it not three minutes later, Logan Schatz picked the pocket of a Bomber defenseman along the end boards, fed Trevor Posch in front, the 20 year-old Leduc product buried his 21st of the year to knot the game 2-2 at 13:59. Chris Van Os-Shaw earned the second helper.

With the Bombers reeling the visitors took advantage, Brayden Camrud fed Korol on a two-on-one rush that the 19 year-old three year Bronco didn't miss with under four minutes to skate.

The 3-2 tally was Korol's 10th, a career high for the Scotland born centreman. Stephan Wack also picked up a point on the game's final goal.

Mason did the rest, the Okotoks product zeroed in after the opening two goals and never let the Bombers back.

Korol admitted this is the type of night that can lead them into the post-season.

"Going into the playoffs you are not going to always be the first to score in a game," he explained. "It instilled the confidence in us that we can come back in games, that's what we need in playoffs because it's not always going to go your way."

The lopsided shot total was a combination of factors, normally visitors to the Whitney Forum usually give up more shots than most other teams that hit the road, but the 59-24 total recorded in the rink can be taken with a grain of salt.

The power-play chances were also heavily favoured in the home team's favour, the Bombers, who came into the night sporting the SJHL's best man advantage stats were just 1/10. At least half those infractions were questionable, many laughable for junior "A" standards. The two linesmen struggled to keep up all night long as well continually getting struck with pucks in critical locations plus the icing and off-side infractions were scattered within the rules and inconsistency.

Humboldt had four power-plays, they didn't score on any of them.

With the win Humboldt secures their position in fifth overall, they sit two points up on Notre Dame and Weyburn, Yorkton is three back.

Next up is the a trip across northern Saskatchewan to LaRonge Saturday night, puck drop is 7 o'clock, the pre-game show on your radio is slated for 6:45.

Elsewhere Friday night, the Nipawin Hawks jumped over the Bombers for the Sher-Wood division lead after their 3-1 victory over the Battlefords, Weyburn slipped past Melville 3-2 in overtime, in a shoot-out Kindersley edged Notre Dame 2-1 and Estevan routed the Ice Wolves 6-2.
