The Horizon Central Athletic Association will have the most teams representing an athletic region outside of Regina and Saskatoon at the provincial high school basketball championships.

A total of seven teams qualified for Hoopla through the regional championships, which were held on Friday and Saturday across Saskatchewan.

In Middle Lake and Lake Lenore, the boys and girls teams both hosted regionals, with all four teams coming out at the end as the winners.

The Avengers boys defeated Annaheim in Friday's semi-final, before using a fast break offence to bury Coronach early in the final game, ultimately winning 115-50.

Players from Middle Lake and Coronach position themselves for a rebound during Saturday's Regional Final.

Following the boys win, the Avengers girls took to the court and paced their way to a 91-54 win over Hague to punch their ticket to Hoopla.

It has been a common scene for the girls team, which has won three straight provincial titles at the 1A level, medalling in four straight years overall.

In Lake Lenore, the Lancers held down their fourth seed by defeating Pinehouse on Friday afternoon, and securing their spot at Hoopla in Saturday's Regional final with a 74-36 win over Stoughton.

The girls knocked off Central Butte 65-21 in the semi-final before defeating Southey 62-35 in the final.

Other teams qualifying for Hoopla include the St. Brieux boys, who outscored Shaunavon 79-67 on their way to winning regionals.

In girls play, Wynyard, seeking their third straight provincial title in 2A, was dominant, defeating Osler 76-29 in the final.

They are joined by Foam Lake in the 2A category, as the Panthers knocked off higher-seeded Canora 74-66 to advance.

Hoopla begins on Friday in Regina with semi-final games taking place. That day will see two games featuring Horizon Central teams squaring off.

The top-seeded Middle Lake boys will meet Lake Lenore, while the Wynyard girls battle Foam Lake.

Lake Lenore's girls team takes on #1 Kenaston, while Middle Lake goes up against Asquith.

In 2A boys, St. Brieux has a championship rematch from 2016, as they meet Saskatoon's Ecole Canadienne.
