A new fundraising event fit for hockey fans has been announced for Humboldt.

Humboldt Minor Hockey and the Humboldt Broncos have teamed up to introduce the 1st Annual Sportsman's Dinner, to be held in April.

"It's an opportunity for the two organizations to come together and collaborate on an event to get all those involved with hockey in the community out and celebrate all the successes we had during the season," says HMH Board Member Maury Simoneau.

The event will be held on April 27 at ice level, giving the night a fitting set-up, Simoneau says.

"It's a neat venue, and we're really looking forward to having everyone down on the arena floor and have a few attractions during the night."

Included in the night is a dinner, as well as entertainment from Prince Albert comedian Kelly Taylor.

There will be a live auction to follow, with smaller raffle draws taking place as well as a dance to wrap the night up.

Money raised will be split between the Broncos and Minor Hockey according to Simoneau, who says it just made sense to have the organizations team up.

"Obviously our minor hockey teams wear the Bronco name and logo, so we're trying to look for opportunities where the organizations can partner together and drive some funding and support for both organizations."

Part of the night will also highlight the past season on the ice with awards being handed out.

Simoneau says it's a chance to recognize the great volunteers involved in hockey.

"The Broncos are going to be awarding a Volunteer of the Year, as well as Sportsman of the Year. Humboldt Minor Hockey will have three awards - Team, Coach, and Official of the Year."

Details on how you can get involved with the awards will be announced shortly, Simoneau says.

Tickets for the event are currently on sale through the Broncos office, as well as the Co-op Convenience Store.
