It took nearly three and a half quarters, but the HCI Mohawks found their offence in time to defeat Martensville 15-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Mohawks quarterback Landon Seipp was complimentary of a strong defensive gameplan from the Royals.

"It was very hard, they have a very good defence and brought pressure every single play, and their DB's did an awesome job," he explained. "We just found some holes at the end of the game and scored on them."

The Royals scored the game's first points on a second quarter field goal, carrying that 3-0 edge into the fourth quarter.

Seipp scored his first of two rushing touchdowns with 6:30 left in the game following a 55 yard catch and run from slotback Jared Giddings.

"It felt awesome, we were kind of struggling throughout the game on offence - their defence played great," said Giddings. "We just kept grinding and grinding and eventually it opened up."

Doubling as the team's starting safety, the Grade 12 dual threat had two interceptions defensively.

"I just want to do whatever I can. Me and the other DB's we're just trying to make sure no one gets over top. We just did our job today and it worked out."

After getting banged up on the opening series, running back Jacob Zimroz gutted it out in the fourth quarter, providing an extra spark for the ground game, which eventually saw Seipp score his second touchdown in the game's final minute.

The win lifts Humboldt to the provincial semi-finals, where they will remain at home as they welcome in the Warman Wolverines in what will be a battle of undefeated teams.

Kickoff at Glenn Hall Park on Saturday, November 7 is 1:00pm.
