While not an 'A', it is a letter of the alphabet nonetheless.

The HCI Mohawks Senior Boys basketball team took to the court in Weyburn for a two-day tournament Friday and Saturday.

On Friday night, they battled the host Eagles in their tournament opener. Humboldt trailed at the half 39-31 before falling 74-65.

The loss pushed them to the 'B' side of the bracket, where they tipped off Saturday afternoon against the Vanier Vikings out of Moose Jaw.

Considered the semi-final, the Mohawks led 23-17 at the break before dominating the second half, claiming a 68-35 win.

That set them up for a final game against Yorkton Sacred Heart. Once again, the Mohawks lit up the scoreboard while playing sound defence, as they downed the Saints 68-44 to claim the 'B' side.

The boys return to league play in the Horizon Central Athletic Association on Wednesday when they visit St. Brieux.

HCI's Senior Girls basketball team was in Warman for a tournament.

They dropped all three of their games, first falling to Prince Albert Carlton on Friday night before dropping their second game of the tournament to the Lumsden Devils.

In their final game, they fell 50-35 to Bishop James Mahoney out of Saskatoon.

Coming up, both teams will reflect on the past, as HCI hosts their annual alumni basketball games. On Thursday at 5:30pm, the girls hit the floor, while the boys take to the hardwood at 7:30pm.
