The Humboldt Mosquito Dodgers have taken claim of the best baseball team in Saskatchewan in their age group.

The group of ten and 11 year-olds had one slip up all weekend but exacted revenge in the championship game to win the AAA provincial crown in Regina.

Going into Sunday's final round robin game with a 3-0 record and outscoring their opponents 44-18 in the process they stumbled to an 11-1 loss at the hands of the Saskatoon Screwballs.

Their 3-1 mark was enough to get the Dodgers through to the semi-finals, they won that in dramatic fashion over the Regina White Sox. With an 8-7 lead and the Sox on their last life Kayd Ruedig snared a left field fly and delivered the ball to home, catcher Thomas Ries slapped the tag on the potential tying runner capping a double play and the win propelling them to the championship game.

The Dodgers rode the momentum into the gold medal game against the Screwballs, they needed just five innings to win 14-1 and  capture the provincial banner.

The Bantam Dodgers(pictured above courtesy Jen Fafard) were also at provincials this weekend in Regina, they unfortunately fell just shy of a second win for Humboldt Minor Baseball.

They went into Sunday with a 2-1 record and a spot in the tie-breaker game versus the Regina Blue Jays, Jett Marshak pitched a complete game in a 10-4 Dodgers win. They moved on to face the Regina Buffaloes in the semi-finals and cruised to an 11-2 victory.

In the gold medal game the Dodgers fell behind 8-3 after four innings, they climbed back within two after five complete innings, they eventually would tie it at 8-8 but the Macklin Lakers scored the winning run walking off with the provincial AA Tier 3 title in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Bantam Muenster Red Sox were in Unity at the Bantam AA Tier 1 Baseball Provincials, they fell to Lloydminster 8-5 in the Sunday morning tie-breaker ending their season.

The Muenster Mosquito Red Sox knew they were in playoffs when they opened play at the Mosquito AA Tier 1 Provincials in Swift Current Sunday and it turned into quite the day.

Pitcher Andrei Aquino dominated the Lumsden Cubs over five innings striking out 12 batters and the Sox put up an 8-1 win putting them into the final against the Weyburn Beavers. Austin Huebner also pitched well in the win.

The Sox would fall just shy of another Muenster miracle however, they were upset 8-6 by the Beavers, proudly they collect the silver medal.

At the Mosquito AA Tier 4 Provincials in Macklin the Lanigan Pirates were doubled 8-4 by the Esterhazy Cyclones in their pool semi-final ending their 2017 campaign.
