The Muenster Red Sox pitching staff put up zero's yesterday afternoon in a double header with the Northwest Pirates.

Brody Frerichs and Thomas Lessmiester both pitched complete game shutouts for the Sox. Frerichs had a dominating performance in Game 1, allowing just three hits while striking out 11.

Lessmeister followed that up by also giving up three hits and recording seven punch outs.

Coach Chad Hofmann explains pitching is very important to any ball club.

"In any league, if you have good pitching you're going to be in every single game, so it's obviously the biggest part of Baseball. I think that if your pitching can keep you around, hopefully the hitting can come through but pitching is definitely our strength so far."

Hofmann describes his teams strengths a little further.

"We have pretty good pitching I think, so that has been our strength. Defensively we've played well so far. Hitting is starting to come along but usually at the beginning of the year, hitting does take a while."

The Red Sox play double headers every weekend, unless there is a tournament.

Hofmann says his team is handling the grueling schedule.

"This weekend we're playing four (games) so it's a pretty busy weekend obviously. But everything has been going well."

The Muenster Red Sox have a 6-0 start to the season as they swept the Northwest Pirates 3-0 and 2-0. They return to the diamond on Saturday in Saskatoon against the Regina Expos and Saskatoon Giants.
