Logan Boulet had the game-winning goal late in the second period as the Humboldt Broncos held down home ice with a 2-1 win over the Nipawin Hawks in Game 3 on Tuesday.

Boulet's winner came on the power play - the Broncos second of the night, and 17th of the postseason, as he threw the puck on goal with a wrist shot, beating Nipawin goalie Declan Hobbs.

"That was a great shot, found the lane. On the first goal, we had a 5-on-3, and those seemed to be a turning point, especially in the playoffs, and that was huge for us."

Conner Lukan brought the Broncos back to even on the earlier goal on the man advantage.

The Broncos showed the quick momentum the two extra men can generate after they killed off the same situation against them, with Boulet's goal coming moments later.

Haugan says that the situation that led to his team being down two men wasn't ideal, but they were able to battle through it and kill off the penalties.

"Really, discipline over emotion is a phrase we like to use. It's so important. If you lose focus for a minute or two, you could lose a hockey game or a series," he said, on ensuring his team stay's in the moment and isn't taking bad penalties.

With the 2-1 win, the Broncos were able to claw their way back to a one game deficit, which was what they needed to do, says Haugan.

"Proud of their efforts, I thought we had everyone going, and everyone seemed to play really well."

Hometown product Jacob Wassermann got the start in goal and was outstanding as the last line of defence, making 29 saves for the win.

Game 4 is quickly on the way on Wednesday night, and Haugan says that they will be going right back to work to prepare for the all-important fourth game.

"The guys will go through a post-game cooldown and take care of everything they need with (Trainer) Dayna (Brons), and we'll start breaking down the film."

Faceoff will be 7:30.
