With half a dozen baseball teams away at provincials, a pair of teams played league contests Friday.

The Marysburg Royals improved their Saskatoon Men's Baseball League record to 11-5 with an 8-3 win over the Hoppers in the Bridge City. Thomas Lessmeister picked up the win on the mound, Cam Blair had a big RBI double in thew win. They face the Saskatoon Outlaws Tuesday night.

The AAA Midget Muenster Red Sox were snake-bitten with the bats dropping a 1-0 decision to the Saskatoon Giants. Brody Frerichs was the losing pitcher despite strong numbers in three innings, he allowed just the one run on one hit. The run was walked in, he allowed three free passes while striking out six. Logan Hofmann came on in relief and pitched four strong innings, he gave up a hit and a walk, he struck out 10/14 batters he faced.

The Sox sit second in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League standings with a record of 20-7, three games behind the Saskatoon Diamondbacks. The Sox are just 5-5 in their last ten games. 

They can improve on that mark Sunday, they host the Northwest Pirates for a double header, game one starts at 12pm, the second around 3 o'clock. Their provincials are in Estevan next weekend.
