The Muenster Red Sox held off a late rally from the Saskatoon Giants to keep their perfect start intact with a 5-4 win on Tuesday.

Morgan Gobeil got his first start with the Sox, pitching four innings, striking out four, allowing just one unearned run.

Muenster got on the board in the bottom of the second after Jayden Huls reached home following an errant throw to third base.

It was the first of three runs scored for Huls, who would cross home plate again in the fourth and sixth innings.

Huls would make a big impact defensively as well.

With one on in the fifth and the Red Sox holding a 4-1 lead, Huls made a remarkable diving effort in right field to keep the three-run lead for the home side.

A late push from the Giants came up short after a three-run home run brought the game within one.

Kalvin Rueve came in to close things out, getting the final three outs on a double play and groundout to secure the win.

Thomas Bollefer had a pair of runs batted in, with Brody Frerichs, Jordan Breker and Mitchell McGrath knocking in the other runs.

The win moves the Red Sox to 5-0 on the season.

The Red Sox remain at home when they welcome the Southeast Twins on Sunday for two games.

In the Richardson Pioneer Men's Fastball League, the Wynyard Blues had another strong start from pitcher Mike Jordan.

Last year's Playoff MVP, Jordan pitched a complete game shutout on Tuesday night, allowing just two hits as the Blues blanked the Rosebud Royals 5-0.

Jordan contributed to his own cause offensively as well with a home run. Josh Jordan and Drew Litwin also hit dingers for the Blues.

A pair of other games saw favourable results for Humboldt teams.

In the North Central Baseball League, the Bantam Dodgers outscored Watrous 10-6.

In the North Central Softball League, it was the Peewee 1 Thunder defeating Quill Lake 17-6.
