The Rosebud Jr. Royals picked up a nailbiting win in their best-of-three semi-final matchup to advance to the Richardson Pioneer Men's Fastball League Finals where they will meet the top seed Rhein Rockets.

In the semi-final matchup on Sunday, August 9, the Jr. Royals took on the Wynyard Blues.

The Royals got off to a rough start and struggled to find their offense, eventually losing to the Blues 7-0 in game-one. Mike Jordan picked up the win on the mount for the Blues.

In game-two, the Royals bounced back. Led by strong pitching from Kody Faubert, the Royals were able to find their bats and rallied towards a 6-3 victory to even the series.

In the 'extra-inning style' game-three, each team starts with a runner on second base. The Royals Kaden Fedak advanced the runner with a groundout to SS. Next up, Luke Scutchings hit an RBI fly to right field to take the 1-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Koby Faubert once again dominated on the mound, shutting down the Blues batters with a strikeout followed by two ground-outs to secure the victory and advance the Royals to the finals.

The Rosebud Jr. Royals and Rhein Rockets will battle for Richardson Pioneer Men's Fastball League supremacy in a best-of-three series starting with game-one on Friday, August 14 at 6:30 in Wadena. Game-two will go on Saturday at 2:00 in Rhein.

The Jr Royals are made up of all U19 (formerly Midget Aged) players and would have been competing for another Provincial Championship this year if not for the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the cancellation of provincials. This league title will be their last competitive games of the year.
