Saskatchewan will have a chance to defend their national championship in baseball.

Tyler McWillie had a pair of doubles, cashing in two runs, and Team Sask was backed by solid pitching, as they defeated Ontario 7-0 in the semifinals at the Canada Summer Games.

Saskatchewan hit the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when McWillie's ground out into a double play scored Brody Frerichs from third. McWillie then hit doubles in back-to-back innings in the third and fourth.

Saskatoon pitchers Connor Sparks and Ryan Olchoway combined to allow just four hits over seven innings.

With the win, Saskatchewan guarantees a medal at the games in baseball, and they will look to make it gold on Friday night when they take on the hosts from Manitoba.

First pitch will be 6:00pm.

In athletics, Payne Wylie of Elstow picked up the 10th medal for Saskatchewan at the games, finishing third overall in the boys 400 metre hurdles. Wylie has quickly developed into one of the top youth athletes in Saskatchewan and could earn a second medal on Friday in the 110 metre hurdles.

He had originally been in place for the silver, however, an Ontario athlete who protested his disqualification had the verdict overturned to take silver. Wylie was then bumped down to bronze.

St. Gregor's Molly Yungmann wraps up her time at the games on Friday with the final three events of heptathlon.

Yungmann enters the day in 10th overall and will look to climb the standings, with long jump, javelin and the 800 metre run to come.
