Trevor Posch's first period power play goal stood up as the only goal on Saturday night, as the Humboldt Broncos blanked the Yorkton Terriers 1-0.

Posch got the puck from defenseman Connor Swystun before moving in through the slot and ripping a shot past Terriers goaltender Greg Maggio.

Chris Van Os-Shaw picked up the second assist on the goal, giving him the overall points lead in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with 23.

Maggio and Broncos puck stopper Carter Seminuk would do the heavy-lifting the rest of the way, with both players making key stops to hold serve on the scoreboard.

"I thought our first was really good. We were strong, came out hard, probably could have scored more than one there," said Broncos Assistant Coach Brayden Klimosko following the game. "We kinda switched roles in the second. Yorkton took it to us, but we battled through it, didn't give them many high quality opportunities and at the end of the day, we get ourselves two points."

The Broncos picked up the win infront of 701 people on Breast Cancer Awareness Night. The team sold pink hearts for two dollars, with all proceeds going to support cancer research. Players also wore pink tape on their socks and sticks.

After seeing just seven shots in the opening frame, Seminuk was tasked to make 18 saves in the second period, before it cooled off in the third, with just three shots attempted by Yorkton.

It was the first time in 20 months that the Broncos had recorded a shutout, with the last time coming February 7, 2015 in a 2-0 win over Estevan. Ryan LaRochelle was the winning goalie that night for the Broncos.

More rare for the green and gold was the 1-0 victory, which occurred three years to the day, on October 22, 2013 when Ryland Pashovitz earned the shutout for Humboldt.

Klimosko raved about Seminuk's performance following the game, in what was just the third start of the season for the 19-year-old.

"He just did whatever he had to do to win us a hockey game. I give him credit, he has battled some injuries the last little bit. The one game he was supposed to start, he takes a ripper off the head, has a concussion and is out ten days," explained Klimosko. "You kind of feel for a guy like that. He came in, ready to go for tonight and good for him."

It was a key win for the Broncos in many ways.

For the week, they were able to win two of three games played, while avenging a loss the night prior to the Battleford North Stars.

The Broncos, who are 9-0-1 at home this season, now hit the road for a stretch of four straight games away from the Elgar Petersen Arena.

Klimosko noted that playing on the road is something they will have to get accustomed to.

"Every rink is a little bit different in size and whatever else. That's the thing you have to get used to, riding the bus and everything like that," he said. "There is a lot of factors in why road games are so much tougher to win, but it's going to be a good learning curve for us."

Humboldt is 3-3 on the road so far this season, with wins at Notre Dame, Melfort and Kindersley.

During the four-game stretch, the Broncos will visit Notre Dame, Melville, Melfort and Battlefords. They return home on November 8 for one game against Notre Dame before a weekend road trip at Weyburn and Estevan.
