The first day of the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina saw a clean sweep for Saskatchewan.

The SJHL combined to win the three games by a 13-5 margin, which included a 4-2 win for Mitchell over Zajac.

Team Mitchell is where Broncos forward Nick Shumlanski is playing, and he says that finding chemistry with new teammates comes down to talking on the ice.

"You have to communicate a lot because you're not used to playing with the guys. A lot of communication helps out so much. It lets guys know where you are on the o-zone for cycles and back checks."

Shumlanski had the first goal for Mitchell in the win. He is joined by Humboldt teammate Conner Lukan, as well as some former teammates from the Flin Flon Bombers.

With three wins already under their belt, Shumlanski says they'll be cheering for a strong finish.

"We're friends with everybody in this league, and of course we're always rooting for the SJ. It would be nice to go and win every game in this tournament, but of course, we're taking it one game at a time."

Shumlanski and Lukan help make up an eight player contingent for the Broncos at the showcase.

On Team Kunitz is Captain Logan Schatz, as well as Brayden Camrud and Bryce Fiske. Head Coach Darcy Haugan is serving as an assistant for the team.

The other team is composed of 1999 and 2000 born players, with defensemen Xavier Labelle and Ryan Straschnitzki, as well as forward Logan Hunter representing Humboldt.

Day two of the showcase has games scheduled for 10:30am, 2:00pm and 5:00pm.
