Skate Humboldt will host their annual Ice Show Sunday afternoon at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

With a chance to showcase their abilities, President Troy Lucyshyn says the skaters are quite eager to get the show started.

"The kids have been coming in on Wednesday mornings practicing for their programs," he noted. "They're all excited getting pictures taken, with plenty of enthusiasm."

The show will begin at 1:00pm and feature a variety of performances, from those learning how to skate, to the figure skaters, according to Lucyshyn.

"We're going to have an opening ceremonies, you'll get to see some of the star skaters come on ice and show their stuff. We're going to go through a very short awards ceremony, and then we will go through the can-skaters with their individual routines, and the senior star skaters will be showing off their individual free skate programs."

Everyone has to start somewhere, and Lucyshyn added that it has been another strong year for the group, with more skaters coming in to learn about skating.

"It started off with our power skating program in the fall where we had roughly 65 skaters learning the A-B-C's of hockey," he said. "Our can-skate program in the fall, we have two programs there - the can-skaters are learning how to skate, and the star skaters are the figure skating portion of our club."

They were also able to host a regional figure skating competition in February.

There is no charge to see Sunday's show at the EPA, however they will have a silver collection set up for donations.
