The Humboldt Broncos scored four goals in the first period, sailing to a 7-1 win over the Flin Flon Bombers on Saturday.

It was a strong execution of the team's gameplan, which Head Coach Darcy Haugan felt was slightly lacking in Friday's 4-3 win over Flin Flon.

Parker Tobin made 28 saves in picking up his second win in three starts as a Bronco.

"It's been different being this far away from home, but it's a great group of guys in the dressing room and they have made the transition easier," said Tobin on joining the Broncos after being acquired from Spruce Grove.

The Stony Plain native says that not much changes when you are the backstopper, so adjusting to Humboldt's playing style has been taken in full stride, Tobin says.

"I think it's a bit easier being a goalie, you don't have to go from system to system that much. Things are different in playing the puck and breakouts and things like that, but the coaches have done a good job in getting me up to speed."

Infront of the 18-year-old, Tobin saw another strong game from the Broncos defensive group, who kept the Bombers offence at bay throughout the game.

Defensemen Stephen Wack and Logan Boulet also found the scoresheet with goals, while Jaxon Joseph, Evan Thomas, Brayden Camrud, Derek Patter and Logan Schatz had the other tallies.

For Joseph, it was his fifth straight game with a goal, while Patter and Schatz's markers came while the team was shorthanded in the third period.

The game didn't pass without some sparks.

Midway through the second period, Flin Flon's Brody Madarash hit Bryce Fiske from behind.

The dirty hit resulted in a checking from behind major and a bruised up face for Madarash after Boulet stepped in to support his teammate.

Fiske returned to the game after a few minutes on the bench but was held out for the third period for precautionary measures according to Haugan.

The Broncos are riding a seven-game point streak as they head into their next contest in Kindersley on Tuesday.

It will be the fifth meeting of the season between the division foes. Humboldt has won all four previous games.
