A birth in the Tankard, Saskatchewan's Provincial Curling Championship, was on the line at the 2018 Highland Men's SCT in Regina over the weekend.

Dustin Kalthoff and Bruce Korte are two teams with ties to Humboldt and surrounding areas that took part in the event. 

Team Korte and Team Kalthoff would both end up with a 2-1 record through the first three games of the round robin. Their fourth and final game would be against each other. Team Korte scored three in the first end, and six in the third end, a 9-0 final, sending Korte to the playoffs and Kalthoff out of the event. 

In the Quarter Finals Korte continued his hot streak defeating Team Kendal 5-0. In the Semis, it was another victory, this time 6-4 over Team Vollman. However. in the Finals. Korte would fall to Team Hartung 6-4.

With the victory, Team Hartung secured a spot in the 2019 SaskTel Tankard. 

The Next SCT event with a birth into the Tankard on the line, is at the Estevan Power Dodge and Curling Centre, running from November 30th - December 2nd.
