The 15th International Association of Athletics Federation World Championships begin in Beijing, China on Saturday.

Humboldt's own Brianne Theisen-Eaton is chasing the gold medal in the sport of heptathlon which begins on Friday when you take the 14 time change from here to the Chinese capital.

Two years ago in Moskva, Russia the then 24 year-old claimed the silver medal totalling 6530 points. That was an improvement of 147 points from her Olympic performance in London in 2012.

Now 26, the Humboldt Collegiate Institute graduate and Oregon star is looking to reach the top of the podium ahead of the 2016 Games in Rio.

Her quest will begin with the the 100m hurdle event on Friday night. She is in heat 4, scheduled to run at 7:24.

The high jump is next of the seven events that make up the heptathlon. That starts at 8:20pm Friday, she is the 15th scheduled jumper.

The shot put competition begins early Saturday morning Saskatchewan time, 2:30am is the opening throw. To conclude day one of the event is the 200 metres, runners will hit the starting blocks at 4:30am Friday.

On Saturday at 7pm, the long jump will occur followed by the javelin throw at 8:25pm.

The last event of the competition is the 800 metres which is slated for 5:40am Sunday.

Theisen-Eaton's placing at major events has continued to climb from 17th at her first IAAF World Junior Championship to 11th at the London Games up to the runner spot in Russia.
