A pair of provincial records were broken on Saturday, as the Humboldt Hammerheads Swim Team hosted their first meet of the season.

Michael Carnago and Jay Eichorst each broke the 25-metre backstroke record for their age category.

Carnago broke his record by 0.15 seconds in the 18+ age group, while Eichorst's record stands in the 13-14 age, surpassing the old mark by 0.03 seconds.

Both records stood for over 10 years, with Carnago's new time surpassing the mark set in 2005, while Eichorst's record was in place since 2000.

In total, 141 swimmers participated in the meet, which was the kickoff to the competitive season. The Hammerheads had 51 representatives in the pool, with 15 of them swimming competitively for the first time.

Overall, Humboldt won the meet, scoring 401 points, with Regina and Saskatoon coming in second and third respectively.

Individual aggregate awards were handed out at the conclusion of the meet, which are earned through collecting points in each event.
