The Under-16 Humboldt Hurricanes are provincial champions following a perfect 5-0 record in Regina.

An outstanding season for the Under-16 Humboldt Hurricanes continues to grow after they claimed the provincial indoor soccer title in Regina.

The Hurricanes outscored their opponents 25-5 over five games in claiming the championship.

They opened up the tournament with a 3-0 win over Lloydminster Friday night.

From there they squeaked past QC United 2-1 before cruising to a 11-4 win over FCR Marino to complete a perfect round robin. That launched them in to the semi-finals Sunday morning where they blanked the Moose Jaw Storm 6-0.

A re-match with United was on tap Sunday afternoon in the provincial final, a 4-0 win for the Hurricanes.

With the provincial title in hand, the Hurricanes will now focus on claiming the Saskatoon Youth Soccer League title. In their first season in the league, the Hurricanes have lost just one game thus far with three regular season matches left.

League semi-finals will be played March 17 with the final going March 20.

Also at the provincial championships in Regina were the Under-14 Boys and Under-16 Girls Hurricanes.

The U14 team went 1-2 in the round robin, falling 5-1 to Hollandia Sirman and FCR Navy before winning their final game 3-2 over the Moose Jaw Storm. The U16 girls lost all three contests, going down 5-0 to SUSC and Lloydminster as well as a 1-0 loss to Yorkton United.
